Black Dog Gelato
Black Dog Gelato crafts unique artisanal gelato and sorbet. The bases are made from scratch, daily and in small batches; using only quality ingredients. Specializing in intriguing signature flavors such as Goat Cheese Cashew Caramel and Sesame Fig Chocolate Chip, Black Dog Gelato can also be found across Chicago in local restaurants and hotels, as well as catering events and festivals, such as Pitchfork and Renegade Craft Fair. The creative force behind Black Dog Gelato is chef and owner, Jessica Oloroso. After leaving her job as pastry chef at acclaimed Chicago restaurant Scylla, and working on her craft in a shared kitchen, Oloroso decided to focus on getting her own space. In 2007, she opened her first shop in Ukrainian Village, followed in 2010 by her location in Roscoe Village, and a new location in Chicago French Market slated to open spring of 2015. Black Dog Gelato has been featured in numerous print and online publications, including The Chicago Tribune, Huffington Post, Chicagoist, Conde Nast Traveler, Buzzfeed, Edible Chicago, TimeOut Chicago’s “100 best things we ate (and drank) this year, Thrillist, as well as on cable TV’s Food Network and Cooking Channel.
