It’s no secret that Chicago is a pizza town and with arguably some of the tastiest mom and pop ‘za spots in the country, the city has certainly earned its bragging rights. Continuing its mission of bringing the best neighborhood dining spots under one roof, Revival Food Hall is excited to get in on a slice of the action announcing Pizza City — a rotating pizza pop-up series beginning on March 18th, bringing some of Chicagoland’s beloved independent pizza talents to the heart of the Loop. The all-new concept is curated alongside 13-time James Beard Award-winning food reporter Steve Dolinsky of ABC 7’s "Hungry Hound” and author of Pizza City, USA! Revival Food Hall will showcase four rotating pizza experts throughout the next 12 months, including: family-owned Bucktown favorite, My Pi (3/18), legendary masters of tavern-style pies, Pat’s Pizza (6/17), one of the best New York-style pizzas in Chicago, Dante’s Pizzeria (9/16) and Southside institution, Palermo’s 95th (12/16).
Pizza City - Pat's Pizza
Founded nearly 70 years ago, Pat's Pizza has been a family owned and operated business for 3 generations. Gina Pianetto carries on her family's traditions of making true Chicago-style pizza. Pat's "tavern style" pizza is thin crust, topped with Midwest mozzarella, "pinch and press" sausage, and cut into small squares. Gina's grandfather Nick (also known as Pat, a nickname given to him by an Irish neighbor who'd lost her young son Patty) opened Pat's Pizza on the north-side in 1950. Gina's dad then innovated the family's recipe of the already thin crust in the late 70's. By utilizing a special dough sheeter, he was able to achieve the signature cracker-thin, crispy texture that makes Pat's Pizza so famous...and so delicious. Staying true to the nearly original recipes, Gina brings Pat's Pizza to Revival Food Hall this summer as the next installation of Pizza City USA.
